OUR PRIORITIES

2025 – 2029

Through a rigorous and collaborative planning process, Healthy Palmetto has identified six strategic priorities that will guide statewide efforts from 2025 to 2029. These priorities, developed in alignment with national, state and local strategies, lay the foundation for a sustainable model of community health—one that can adapt and grow to meet future challenges.

1

Increase the Reach of Nutrition Supports

2

Expand Access to Food Is Medicine Interventions

3

Promote Community Mobility and Active Transportation

4

Improve Early Care and Education Environments

5

Prioritize Physical Activity in Schools

6

Increase Access to Outdoor Opportunities for Physical Activity

How We Chose Our Priorities

In 2024, we launched an extensive planning process to ensure that our priorities address our communities’ most pressing health needs. We drew upon evidence-based strategies from leading reports, including the Trust for America’s Health State of Obesity 2023 and the National Strategy on Hunger, Nutrition and Health.

This effort was shaped by a diverse group of voices:

Input from our Leadership Council and Executive Committee.
Feedback from a statewide workgroup.
Insights gathered during a public comment period and interviews with key partners across South Carolina.
